When skin takes on a saggy appearance due to aging, pregnancy, or weight loss, a person’s self-esteem can be dampened.

With body contouring, the body can be transformed through a number of cosmetic procedures, which removes the loose skin and tightens and lifts the remainder.

Cosmetic surgeons Dr. Erik Nuveen and Dr. Courtney Caplin at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates in Oklahoma City can perform body contouring all over the body, including the stomach, arms, breasts, buttocks, thighs and hips. When there is excessive fat as well, the doctors can perform liposuction. Following surgery, the body will appear smoother-looking, more toned, lifted and younger-looking.

Surgical Procedures

The process of body contouring is specifically designed to help patients reshape, tighten and firm up problem areas of the body where loose and sagging skin is present. Common areas addressed are the neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, flanks, thighs, buttocks, and knees. It is likely that the doctor will consider a number of procedures to be combined into one surgery (where necessary). This typically involves the upper body parts or lower body parts that are staged together to minimize the risk of infection and shorten the recovery time.

Words can’t begin to express how happy I am with my experience! Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. Follow up and organization are on point. My results- I can’t begin to explain how amazing they are! I lost 120lbs and was worried about which surgeon to pick who would really do my new body justice. I went to others who had limited before/afters and just wasn’t confident in them. After one consult with Dr. Nuveen I knew he was the doctor for me! He has perfected post weight loss body contouring to take a fraction of the time and heal 2x as fast. It sounded too good to be true. But I’m 8 days post op and I can honestly say he was right!!! I couldn’t imagine why someone would go anywhere else. You’re treated like royalty from day one. I’m forever going to sing the praises of Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates!!!

During/After Surgery

During surgery, the surgeon will trim away and remove excess skin and the underlying tissues will be tightened. Liposuction is often a part of this process. All procedures are performed under general anesthesia. The duration of the surgery and the length of the hospital stay will depend on how many procedures were combined in a single operative setting. Recovery from this surgery is slow and challenging, but the improvements that are visible create a significant boost of self-confidence for the majority of patients.

I had a lower body lift done in December of 2019. Dr. Nuveen and the staff took incredible care of me, especially Sonia and Ashley. They anticipated my needs before I knew what I even needed. The overnight suite was perfect, as well. Dr. Nuveen has a true gift for balancing professionalism and a comforting bedside manner. I am elated with my results. So thankful I made the decision to have the surgery done at Cosmetic Surgery Affiliates.

I absolutely love this place! The office and staff are excellent. Everyone you meet from the front desk to the office manager has a smile on their face, which makes you feel important and happy you came there. I did my research online and found out that Dr. Nuveen and Dr. Caplin are both the only tripple board certified doctors in the USA and of all places in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma! Dr. Nuveen has done all of my surgery's breast augmentatio 360 body lift and got rid of the bags under my eyes, best surgeon hands down! Not only is he good at what he does, he is genuine and compassionate with his patients. I had some complications with my surgery, by no fault of his, and he went ABOVE and BEYOND to ensure my safety and comfort as well as going the extra mile to make sure I was pleased. His staff is as friendly as the come and makes you feel so comfortable. Book your consultation with him today - you will not be disappointed!!

Enjoy the awesome vibe from staff. They made me feel comfortable and relaxed. Highly recommend this place to family and friends!

    Body Contouring FAQs

    Procedures I can combine?

Procedures are combined and scheduled in stages depending on the overall physical health of the patient and the body areas that need to be addressed. Typically, the grouping will be staged with a combination of either the upper body parts (abdomen, breasts, arms, neck, face), or lower body parts (buttocks, thighs, flanks, knees). This staging helps reduce the risk of complications, such as blood loss and infection, since the surgery is limited to an area. This also shortens the length of time for recovery. The combination of procedures will be outlined during the initial consultation with the surgeon.

    The ideal timing?

Individuals who have lost a significant amount of weight will need to be at or near their goal weight in order to proceed with a body contouring procedure. In addition, body contouring should also be reserved for those who have already had children and are not planning to become pregnant in the future. This is a recommendation only because it preserves the toned appearance created through surgery without compromising the surgical outcome.

    Mommy Makeover procedure?

A mommy makeover is a procedure that is in the same context of body contouring. It is a coined term for a group of body contouring procedures that address areas of the body specifically affected by pregnancy. These are the areas around the breasts, abdomen, hips and buttocks. Again, this is only a general term for body contouring reserved for those who have completed one or more pregnancies.

Will there be a lot of scars?

In general, body contouring procedures will result in scarring. Most patients report that once the incisions heal, the scarring is no longer a primary worry as the benefits of this life-changing surgery are so significant. An experienced plastic surgeon will make every effort to minimize the scars by carefully placing the incisions inconspicuously. Post-surgery care is also very important. Topical creams may be prescribed to help in the healing process. Over time, the scars will lighten and blend in with the patient’s natural skin tone.
